Theatre South Family Fun Day

Sunday 12th June, Giffnock North, 12pm to 5pm

Join us at the Theatre South Productions Family Fun Day for what promises to be a great afternoon.

The Theatre South cast and helpers are pulling out all the stops to bring you a host of family fun activities, including a bouncy castle, beat the goalie, wet sponge contest, dance classes, face painting, home baking, tombola, coconut shy, karaoke and much, much more.

In addition to our home baking stand, there will also be plenty of other food and drink on offer.

We've got our fingers crossed for a gloriously sunny day but even if it rains you can rest assured that the fun will still continue and you'll stay dry (unless you put yourself forward as a victim in our wet sponge contest of course!).

The Fun day is taking place at Giffnock North Athletics club on Braidbar Farm Road in Giffnock on Sunday 12th June from 12pm to 5pm. We hope to see you there!

Kisses On Sale At Clarkston Farmer's Market

Theatre South Productions find novel way of promoting new show Kiss Me Kate

Clarkston Farmers Market

The Clarkston Farmer’s Market is normally the place for buying your weekly shop of organic vegetables, handmade soaps or fresh bread. Amidst the free range poultry and chocolate spoons, local amateur theatre group Theatre South Productions found a new platform to promote their forthcoming musical Kiss Me Kate. At the most recent Farmer’s Market in Clarkston Car Park, the group handed out free candy Love Hearts to those taking a flyer for their show. Actors brought a touch of drama to the farming world. Club spokesman Daniel Sedgwick commented: "For over 15 years now we have been leading the way in amateur theatre on the south side. The talent, energy and enthusiasm of our club continually delight our audiences, and we (brought) some of that to the Farmer’s market at the end of February!”

Market organiser Tom Gibson asked TSP to bring “enthusiasm” to the event. Admittedly, locals were a little bemused at the sight of actors mingling with farmers at the monthly setup. Many were delighted however, to see a Shakespeare adaptation being given prominence. The Clarkston stalls suddenly had an air of the setting for the musical, Padua in Italy.

Local Amateur Dramatics Club raises £2,400 for Glasgow Charities

amateur dramaticsamateur dramatics

South side amateur dramatics society, Theatre South Productions, has raised an incredible £2,400 in support of three local charities.

The group has become renowned throughout the south side of Glasgow for the professional standard of their sell out shows in Easterwood Park Theatre, and through the hard work and dedication of the cast and production team in the build up to their recent revue show, 'Best of Broadway', the group has helped to make a difference to the lives of those in need in Glasgow.

The three charities to benefit from the generous donation were St Margaret's Hospice, The Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice, and Maggie's Cancer Centre, who came along to the club's annual Burns Ceilidh in Clarkston last week to celebrate the contribution, and to be presented with their cheques.

Club spokesman Daniel Sedgwick commented "For over 15 years now we have been supported by audiences in Glasgow and wanted to channel the talent and energy of the club to give something back. The charities we chose have all touched the lives of people in our club, and help hundreds of people each year. It's great to have been able to use what we love doing, putting on great shows, to help people in our community".

"It has given everyone involved in the club a great lift and it's definitely something we want to do again in the future!"

Theatre South Productions announce Rent for 2010

rent

We're delighted to confirm that TSP have secured the rights for the smash hit broadway musical, Rent! This amazing rock opera tells the story of one year in the life of a group of bohemians struggling in modern day East Village New York. The story centres around Mark and Roger, two room-mates. While a former tragedy has made Roger numb to life, Mark tries to capture it through his attempts to make a film. In the year that follows, the group deals with love, loss, AIDS, and modern day life in one truly powerful story. Rent won a Tony Award for Best Musical and a Pulitzer Prize, among other awards.

Based on Puccini's 'La Boheme', 'Rent' tells the story of one year in the life of friends living the Bohemian life in modern day East Village, New York City, 1989-1990 and shows how much changes or doesn't change in the 525,600 minutes that make up a year.
